So yesterdays blog, “4 Arsenal players better then Cesc Fabregas” on got a lot of people talking. One of the main talking points was my ‘selective stats’, with only a comparison to Aaron Ramsey having detailed stats. In the interest of fairness, below are the full stats for all players (swapping Cazorla for Walcott due to the laters lack of game time):
Read into it what you will, but Aaron Ramsey by far and away is the stand out player, followed by Cazorla. Sanchez and Ozil appear behind Cesc, but Sanchez’s 19 league goals is the outstanding stat.
Now what if we created a league for the players to create a fair comparison as to who is better? With 5 points awarded for whoever has the highest stat for that category, 1 for whoever has the lowest stat. How would the table look?
Unsurprisingly, Ramsey is top.
Perhaps surprisingly, Cazorla is the 2nd best midfielder out of the group, highlighting that whilst he might not always be exceptional, he has a very consistent all round game – He was top 2 in 5 of the 9 categories. Sanchez and Cesc are tied for 3rd. Sanchez sits higher in the table as its an Arsenal blog.
Mesut Ozil comes in last place. Perhaps a bit surprising. However, he is just 1 point behind Sanchez and Cesc. And when you consider he is the only one who was playing in a new league, and, by many people’s opinion (not mine) was poor last season, to finish just 1 point behind 2 World Class talents is commendable.
So there you have it, proof, it needed, that Arsenal do not need Cesc.
Argument over, no further comment on the subject from met.

Playing with Giroud make Ozil stats look worse than the others in assist. Playing with Giroud will only make a good player to be poor. He lacks everything a footballer should have.

Good piece. Agreed, much of Arsenal’s midfield has as much quality as Fabregas, but the real irritation for Arsenal fans is not that Wenger let a quality player go, but that Wenger let a quality player go to one of Arsenal’s title rivals.
Cast your mind back to last summer: the move for Demba Ba was on, but Mourinho changed his mind as soon as Arsenal were rumoured to be bringing in Ozil. There was no way he would sell to a title contender, so Arsene should have done the same and brought in Cesc this summer – if only to block off his move to Chelsea.

cesc was playing out of Position, therefore you cannot gauge these Stats as his true
ratings…

Fine piece of writing….who needs a cesc…@tolsem i agree with u…but if u look at Arsenal when Cesc was here,he played with the likes of Adebayor,Henry,RVP and Eduardo….all better strikers than Giroud and we won nothing,Ozil playing with Giroud and we won the FA Cup…it kinda makes Fabregas look terrible in my own reckoning.

The Spanish league, once you get below the top 4 or 5, is known to be easier than the Premier League and players get more time. Ozil was in the UEFA team of the year two years running at Madrid while Cesc played in the same role at Barcelona but couldn’t get in the Barcelona team. While Cesc was signing for Chelsea having come home early from the World Cup Ozil was winning the World Cup. All this and Ozil is 2 years younger. Ozil will be one of the stars of the league this season and so will Cesc but i’d rather have Ozil.

I totally agree with you nobody should be crying over Cesc he would find it difficult to start however having players like him on the bench would be good it’s what we need, I mean tbh I am happy with our bench and not saying I do or don’t want Cesc it’s just about having SQ on the bench City brought on Aguero scores in less than 2 mins. For example Sanogo great prospect but champions league game or any game 30 mins left need a goal look to the bench see Sanogo I don’t think you get filled with hope if he comes on even Campbell is although a better option a bit rusty I know these guys need games to improve I just think CF especially we need 2 SQ as we only play 1 central striker.
TBH when we bought Sanchez I thought he would play up top but then we might need another winger aaaaahhhhh I don’t know glad I’m not the boss.

Lots of people here are saying that it is bad that AW let him go to the chavs. Now I’m no AW fan and I make no bones about but reading some of the comments here it’s almost like some of you wanted to have signed Fabrefas just so he didnt go to Chelsea!
Pay all thst money to have a guy warm our bench so that he doesn’t go to one of our rivals. WTF??? That’s spurs logic that is!
Agreed with the post yesterday or whenever it was about 4 players better than Cesc, this proves it beyond any reasonable doubt. How anyone can argue with facts as definitive as these is beyond me!
