And it’s only August!

We have been clinical in the transfer market this summer. Pre-season has only just started, we are still in July, and the bulk of our essential transfer dealings is done.

Yes, we still want a left winger. But we know that can only happen with exits. That was always the position even before the window opened.

Nothing to do with money. With Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, we always needed to sell one to make space for an incoming.

Add in Madueke, we have added another option on the left side even if we sign no one else.

New contracts for Gabriel, Miles-Lewis Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri have also been signed. Upgraded contracts for William Saliba and Bukayo Saka are also being discussed.

After spending £200m, we may or may not win the title. Finishing 2nd or 3rd is not failure if it is behind Liverpool and Man City. They have great squads and have also spent bucket loads.

All we ever ask is to be competitive. And this season we will be again.

Hats off to Andrea Berta, Mikel Arteta and the team. They’ve been brilliant, getting their business done whilst blocking out the noise.
