England bore whilst Kai scores

What a lovely fresh Sunday morning! Spring is definitely here!

The plan for the day will be to get out into the garden, give it a good mow and tidy up before repainting a couple of fences. In the meantime, I hope the rat that has decided to make my kitchen its home goes for the banana in the trap and I can dispose of it in Epping Forest.

To say the football last night was a little wank would be an understatement.

I turned off at half-time to finish watching Gray (not worth investing your time), and it sounds like I did not miss much. The England performance was dire, like they so often are in friendlies.

Declan Rice played the entire game. You can only assume that he will not play on Tuesday against Belgium.

Gareth Southgate will always do deals with managers during these pointless friendlies, to keep them onside and stop players pulling out with fake injuries.

I would imagine the deal with Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola was that players could play the full 90, but only play one game. Rice and Foden played a full 90. I would imagine we will see Jordan Henderson and Cole Palmer play every minute on Tuesday.

Kai Havertz scored again as Germany beat France 2-nil. Having started recently at left back, he started upfront yesterday. Sometimes he must not know whether he is coming or going…

Arteta continues to work with a smaller squad whilst 12 players are away on international duty.

During the break we lost 4-0 to QPR in a training game. Whilst the headline was about Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu starting, the rest of the team was our U21 and U18, and reading the match report it was very much men against boys.

Anyone who watches the EFL trophy will know that there is a big gap between Premier League academy sides and League One and League Two senior teams.

Whilst the Premier League youth sides are often technically better, they are usually not quite there in terms of strength and stamina. The competition is a good experience for the kids though, and Arteta and his team will be taking note of those who do not shy away from competing with their senior counterparts.

In early injury news, Fabio Vieira is back in full training. That basically leaves just Jurrien Timber as the only man 100% out of the Manchester City game – I expect both Gabriel’s and Bukayo Saka to be back and fit.

Enjoy your Sunday!

The press reaction to the QPR game was ridiculous. Arsenal humiliation was many headlines. Very poor journalism.
