Neymar to PSG shows greed has killed football

The transfer of Neymar from Barcelona to PSG really does highlight that players are motivated by nothing but money.

Barcelona are one of the greatest teams in world football. A historic club. They compete for major honours every year, and participate in a competitive league. Compare this to PSG who were only founded in 1970 and are the 7th most successful side in France.

Before PSG got the oil money, they had won the same amount of Ligue 1 titles as Sète & Sochaux. Less than the likes of Reims, Nice, Lille, Bordeaux, Lyon, Monaco, Nantes, Marseille & Saint-Étienne. They are simply not a big club, they are just a rich club.

Whilst Barcelona have won 5 European Cups, PSG have never mad it past the quarter final. Last season they were knocked out in the first knockout stage.

Neymar could be running out infront of 100,000 people at the Nou Camp. Instead he will be at some stadium in a French suburb that holds just 47,929.

PSG play in a one team league – although Monaco did surprise everyone by winning the league last year. They are where players go to stat pad. Beyond the top handful of teams, the quality is poor. Will anyone really respect Neymar if he scores 100 goals in France next year? They will not.

There is talk that Neymar’s move will enhance his chance of winning the Ballon d’Or. That will only happen if he drives PSG to the Champions League or Brazil to the World Cup. 50 goals in France is like 50 goals in Scotland. Not impressive.

The only logical reason Neymar is picking PSG over Barcelona is because of money.

If he is unhappy at Barcelona, why not go to Manchester United, Juventus or Bayern Munich. They would all love him at their club. But of course, they would not pay him the tax free £650,000 the French club are reportedly offering.

There are millions of reasons why Neymar is leaving Barcelona for PSG. And none of them are footballing. They are all about his bank balance.

Greed is no longer killing football. It has killed football.

Some Arsenal things that are pissing me off

Lucas Perez Love-In

Arsenal fans really are a joke at times. Support a player who the manager doesn’t fancy. Abuse a player who he does. Stop with the agenda guys.

Top 4 now important?

Fucks me off. For years they said “Arsenal haven’t won a trophy. Top 4 isn’t a trophy”.

Now last season we finished 5th and won the FA Cup its “Arsenal are still scarred from last season after they finished outside the top 4”.

The WSHPBB

The We Should Have Played Barnet Brigade.

This summer we have had a friendly against Borehamwood, and tonight we play Leyton Orient. I wonder if any of those moaning about us not playing Barnet this summer have attended, or will attend, either of these fixtures.

ASW’s

Attention Seeking Wankers. It seems many of the ASW’s have morphed into ITKs this summer. Get over it lads. All of you. Stop pretending you know stuff.

People that moan about youth

Seems there is a new group of people who moan all day that we do not give youth a chance. Then moan when youngsters player in pre-season friendlies.

They will probably also moan when we play youngsters in the League Cup and Europa League.

You can’t have it both ways lads. Can’t moan about not giving youth a chance. Then moan when we do.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

1 month left in the transfer window – what do Arsenal still need to do?

So we have a month to go until the transfer window slams shut. Now that pay day has been and again, perhaps Arsene might open his window and buy everyone a beer. Before poncing a pint and tobacco off everyone for the rest of the month.

Arsenal still have a lot of work to do between now and the 31st August

The Thomas Lemar Saga

It is all getting a bit silly now, and starting to resemble every other transfer window over the last decade. From Higuain to M’Vila, Kalou to Trabelsi, we have been here before where we spend the entire summer searching said players names for update. And the only updates are from attention seeking ITK’s.

The Lemar saga looks to last all summer.

The Alexis Sanchez saga

Arsenal are bringing out a double album this summer. A movie and a sequel. Chuck in Mesut Ozil and it is a trilogy. Add in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and I am not really sure what that makes it?

Arsenal’s resolve on Sanchez will be tested in the last month, as clubs see if Arsenal really are willing to let the Chilean leave on a free in 12 months.

Boost the midfield

With Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Franci Coquelin, the midfield looks short of quality competition.

Ramsey and Xhaka are class, but there is a big talent gap between them and Elneny and Coquelin.

A need to get in another more defensively minded midfielder who is at a similar level, or even better than, Ramsey and Xhaka is a must.

Another centre back?

A bonus could be Arsenal signing a top class centre back. It is unlikely, and it would be a Brucie, but if the right man come available, at the right price, Arsenal need to pounce.

Sell Sell Sell

All of the above need to be shipped out over the next month

It is going to be a busy day for Arsenal’s new backroom team.
