When wanting Wenger Out turns nasty

The majority reading this will want Arsene Wenger to go. Some will say they have wanted him out for years, others merely weeks. Some define their football “lives” by wanting him to go, classing themselves as WOBs, others just feel he is not the right man for the club, but will happily celebrate the success.

Over the years, I have never had an issue with people wanting Wenger to leave or stay. Both sides of the centralist position have valid arguments.

Some people “boycott whilst he is still in charge”, others never actually went to games previously and pretend to boycott just so that they can make a point. One clown even declared this summer that he was boycotting, and has then been to every game this season. Odd.

You are entitled to support (or not support) the team how you feel. But up to a point. There are some things that I feel are frankly disgraceful:

1. Wanting Arsenal to fail – It is Arsenal FC, not Arsene FC. You should want the team to win, no matter your view on the manager. People say they want Arsenal out as he will not win us the league, then also say that they would hate us to win the league as they do not want him to stay. You can not have it both ways.

If you found yourself cheering the Bournemouth winning, delighted that Nottingham Forest beat us, or hoping that we lose every game, then you are not an Arsenal supporter. You just have an anti-Arsene agenda.

Support the team, not the regime.

2. Wanting Wenger to become ill – Everyone has had someone affected by cancer. It is not nice to watch a loved one contracted the killer disease, and then their lives slowly deteriorate. There are people out their wishing that Arsene Wenger gets cancer, or other terminal illnesses like AIDs.

Wenger is a father, an (ex) husband. It is not big, nor clever to do this. In fact, it is down right disgusting, vile behaviour.

3. Comparing Wenger to murderous dictators – I have seen people compare Wenger to the likes of Adolf Hitler and Robert Mugabe. These are men who have killed millions for no reason then they were “different” to themselves. Comparing Wenger, a football manager, to people that have committed genocide. OK.

4. Wanting Wenger to die – Alongside the illness, people want Wenger to die. This is just odd, that they want to see Wenger in a coffin.

Again, he is a father to a teenage daughter. Wanting him to die, because you are annoyed we lost to Bournemouth. Yeh. Alright then.

5. Calling Wenger a “kiddie fiddler” – The lowest of the low. Spurs fans have spent years calling Arsene Wenger a paedophile. Punches have been thrown over this. And now some fans have started to call him a nonce, a kiddie fiddler, all because we finished 5th.

That highlights how classless some of our fans are. Calling a manager a child sex offender, all because you are upset that we are not challenging for the league.

I do feel for the fans who go down this route. They must live truly sad, insignificant lives. Karma will catch up with them.

Calling for any of the above is just attention seeking. It is for a few RTs, follows or likes on a Facebook page. For me, if you do any of the above, you are not only a sub-par Arsenal fan, you are a sub-par human being.

By all means, want Wenger Out. Demand him to go. Protest against him. But as soon as you begin wishing cancer on him, or calling him a kiddie fiddler, you lose a lot of validity, and a lot of backing.

The last protest against Arsene Wenger was marred by a fake video going viral of fans singing that they wished Wenger was dead. This devalued any sort of message from the protest.

Demand Wenger Out, but keep it classy guys.

Idiot Arsenal fans celebrate losing to Watford

Almost as disappointing as Saturday’s defeat to Watford was reading through various Facebook pages and Twitter timelines seeing some Arsenal fans happy that Arsenal had lost.

There was some fans, it felt reading their comments, who were almost celebrating Arsenal losing. Celebrating as it suiting their agenda. Whether it be against Wenger, the board, or whoever.

Arsenal fans delighted about Arsenal losing.

Let’s get one thing right, if you want Arsenal to lose, if you are ever happy they lost, if you celebrate a defeat, you are not an Arsenal fan.

I constantly see people saying Its Arsenal FC, Not Arsene FC and they are correct, I support Arsenal, not Arsene. However, there are fans out there who say this, yet refuse to support Arsenal due to Arsene being the manager. They fail to see the irony.

These people are not Arsenal supporters. Hoping your team loses is a direct contradiction to what the definition of supporter is. By wanting Arsenal to lose, you are not supporting Arsenal, you are refusing to back the club because of your agenda against the manager.

It is Arsenal FC, Not Arsene FC.

I, like many, want Arsene Wenger to leave Arsenal. He should have probably gone in 2014 after the FA Cup win over Hull City. He most certainly should not have been offered a new contract in the last summer. But he is here, and whilst I am unhappy he is still at Arsenal, it will not stop me supporting Arsenal.

There is a feeling that in some peoples eyes, you should not be able to celebrate a win if you do not think Wenger should be at the club. You get labelled a flip flop. Labelled something because you are happy that Arsenal won. OK.

I actually feel for these people. Unable to celebrate a win. Always moaning. Always complaining. There lives must be full of so much negativity, they must be so angry all the time. That chip on their shoulder gets so much bigger every time Arsenal win.

He is some news for you. You can be upset about the state of the club at the moment, but you can also celebrate Arsenal winning. Just like you can be happy with the state of things, but be equally frustrated when we lose.

You do not have to be happy all the time, or angry all the time. The majority of the time are in the middle. They are happy when we win, angry when we lose. It is only those on the fringes, the fair right and fair left of the fan base, who are unable to be happy or angry because it does not suit their agenda.

One oddity I have read is people saying the worst thing that happened to the club is winning 3 FA Cups in 4 years.

So let me get this right, you want #WengerOut due to a persevered lack of success, then you say winning trophies is the worst thing that happened to the club.

I imagine those that say this do not go to games. They have not made 9 trips to Wembley in a little over 3 years. They do not have mates. They sit at home watching on their illegal streams, typing angrily on Facebook when we win.

All 3 FA Cup’s were brilliant. Fantastic weekends out with the mates. 48 hours of drinking and celebrating, If you think winning trophies is the worst thing that can happen to a football club, maybe you need to take up another hobby?

Going for circle, the fact that people are celebrating us losing does show how poor a state or club and our fanbase is. But if you were happy on Sunday, skipping around your communal garden, then you are not an Arsenal no. The funny thing is, most of these people have a picture of themselves on their Facebook AVI or Twitter AVI with themselves in the latest Arsenal shirt.

Idiots, the lot of them

“There is no crisis at Arsenal”

It is set to be 27c today and yet I am inside, nursing a horrendous hangover, caused due to Arsenal’s inept performance yesterday. At least I have the cricket to watch. England are fighting back well. But as I have written this, Joe Root has just got out. Great.

There is plenty wrong at Arsenal. I can see it. You can see it. Everyone can see it. Except for one man. Arsene Wenger.

It seems only the Arsenal manager can not see what is wrong with the club at the moment, He is the man not only without a plan in the transfer market but without a plan full stop.

Arsenal lost against Liverpool, Arsenal lost against Stoke. I do not really care that we lost games. It happens. We almost always lose against Liverpool and Stoke. But it is the manner of the defeats that drove me to drink.

For so long, Wenger has been criticised for a lack of tactics, and that has been shown in the recent games against Stoke and Liverpool.

The move to 3 at the back worked last season, and Wenger has continued with it this season. But you can only play a formation if you have the players that sort it, and when Arsenal are lining up with a winger at full back, a right back at left back, and 2 left backs at centre back, it is clear to all that the formation does not suit the players. Clear to everyone, of course, except for Wenger.

In the recent game against Stoke, Wenger complained about the lack of central defenders available to him, yet he had 2 on the bench that he never used.

Then we have the misuse of Rob Holding. The poor lad must not know if he is coming or going.

Holding started the first game of the season, dropped completely from the match day squad for the second game, then back in the side for the third game where he was ripped apart by the brilliant Sadio Mane and given no support. I feel for the lad.

As for Calum Chambers, a man who played nearly every game in the Premier League for Middlesbrough last season, and performed so well for England in the summer Euro U21 tournament, finds himself nowhere near the team, behind left backs playing centre back.

But of course, we can all see these problems, but Wenger can not.

And why were Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac on the bench yesterday? It is baffling.

Last seasons transfer dealings have been exposed as truly awful. We spent a lot of summer last year, yet only one man is still in the teams plans this summer, Granit Xhaka. And he has performed awful of late.

In fact, going through Arsenal’s last 10 transfers, just two of them started yesterday against Liverpool – Holding and Xhaka.

We need players. We need players playing in the right position. We need top quality players. We can all see that, but Wenger can not.

He is becoming deluded. Or has become deluded depending on how angry you are. He does not know what he is doing. He is the captain of the Titanic telling the passengers it is only a bit of ice, that there is no concernable damage.

He is not a captain not a captain going down with a ship whilst rats leave, he is the captain taking his ship down, whilst screaming everything is alright, full steam ahead.

He should have gone after the FA Cup in 2014. 3 FA Cups in 4 years have cemented his place further as an Arsenal great. But like Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest, he has outstayed his welcome.

On Thursday the transfer window shuts. We are not signing anyone. We will sell key players. but Wenger will tell you it is all OK. He is lying to you.

Have a good Monday, Enjoy the sun. Enjoy the cricket.
