4 current Arsenal stars better than Cesc Fabregas

OK, I am fed up. Cesc Fabregas joined Chelsea, and a few days ago, had a decent game for them, setting up 2 goals. Unlike many, however, I am not fed up due to Cesc playing in the blue of Chelsea. I am fed up due to the lack of respect Arsenal fan’s are giving to players in the current Arsenal side. I am going to make 2 statements:

Cesc Fabregas would not get into the Arsenal 1st team
There are 4 players better than Cesc who would keep him out

Mesut Ozil

Cesc Fabregas and Mesut Ozil are direct comparators. Both play in the number 10 role. The attacking midfielder. It is the presence of Ozil that led to Arsene Wenger not buying Cesc. And lets look at the stats.

Lets compare their stats since 2011/12 (when Cesc left Arsenal) for club and country (League, Europe and Inteernationals):

Cesc Fabregas: 134 games, 40 assists
Mesut Ozil: 135 games, 52 assists

Ozil is the king of assists, Fabregas is merely the prince.

Alexis Sanchez

The story go’s that when we were in Barcelona to discuss the Alexis Sanchez deal, Cesc got word of it and was excited as he thought Arsenal were coming in for him. He called Wenger and was promptly told it was Alexis Sanchez that we were after. Both were available, we chose Sanchez.

Both men joined Barcelona in the summer of 2011, how did they fair?

Cesc Fabregas: 151 games, 42 goals
Alexis Sanchez: 141 games, 47 goals

If we were after pace and goals, Sanchez is the better player.

Theo Walcott

Cesc Fabregas had his best season at Arsenal when he was 22. Theo Walcott also had his best season in an Arsenal shirt at the age of 22.

2009/10: Cesc Fabregas, 19 goals
2012/13: Theo Walcott, 21 goals

And remember, Cesc took penalties!

Aaron Ramsey

One way to accommodate Cesc Fabregas would be to drop him deeper, behind Ozil. That would result in dropping Aaron Ramsey. CRAZY. Lets look at the full league stats from last season:RamseyvCescIt is no contest. Aaron Ramsey out performs Cesc is almost every important department of an all-round central midfielder.

So next time you are sitting crying over Cesc, or getting angry that we did not sign him, remember, we have 4 players in our side who would keep it out.

My bet of the season? Ramsey, Walcott and Sanchez to score more goals than Cesc, Mesut Ozil to get more assists.

£27million to buy a player to sit on our bench? No thanks.

10 reasons why we will beat Besiktas + Starting 11

CL

1)  Our Record in qualifiers is Played 12, Won 12, Drawn 0, Lost 0, Goals For 29, Goals Conceded 3.

2) We beat another Turkish side (Fenerbahce) at this stage last season.

3) Gibbs is out for 3 weeks (3 months in Arsenal time), Koscielny is fit, Mertesacker didn’t travel, which means the defence picks itself with little or no backup.

4) Part 3 of the Arteta/Ramsey/Wilshire midfield trio experiment, let’s hope it’s more Man City than Palace.

5) Sanogo and Diaby didn’t travel with the squad, Sadly 4 Germans and Theo are also missing.

6) Flamini will be Mr Versatile tonight covering every position on pitch (if needed) including between the sticks.

7)  Their main threat will come from Chelsea reject Demba Ba.

8) Their Champs League record reads.. P 66, W 22, D 12, L 32, GF 64  GS 103. The Arsenal’s.. P 174, W 88, D 39, L 47, GF 279, GS 174.

9) The Arsenal Vs Turkish sides, P 7, W 4, D 3, L 0 GF 12, GS 2

10) Wenger Knows, get a good win tonight and it could be all steam ahead for not only the Champs League for real but also for signing the 2 or 3 players we will need to really challenge this season on all fronts.

My Starting 11 – Chesney, Monreal, Kos, Chambers, Deb, Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere, Alexis, Ox, Giroud.

10 Reasons why we will beat Palace + starting 11

Well before I start..HAPPY NEW SEASON, let’s hope Wenger spends a bit more money on the defence and we could be in with a shout this season.

1) Pulis has left Palace, not an ideal start for any team, especially one that will have to punch above it’s weight to stay up this season. Pulis completely turned around Palace last season, they were everyone’s favorites to go down and he steered them upto 11th.

2) Koscielny look’s likely to be fit, it will be nice to have one fit CB on the pitch.

3) Chambers has looked ok in pre-season, CB is our only weak position today.

4)  Diaby maybe fit, but luckily so is everyone else bar the German’s and Theo so he shouldn’t get on the pitch .

5) Captain Arteta will get to try his new super Def Mid role where he doesn’t run about too much, breaks up play and just gives the ball to Jack and Aaron.

6) We beat Palace home and away last season 2-0.

7) We haven’t won any of our last 4 opening weekend games, Palace haven’t won any of the last 5.

8) Alexis will be the star attraction today, but Campbell, Ox and Sanogo will all be hoping to get on the pitch and make an impression today.

9) Giroud’s goal Vs City shows with a bit of competition for places amazing things can happen.

10) Wenger Knows, what a difference a year makes….

My starting 11 – Chesney, Deb, Chambers, Kos, Gibbs, Arteta, Jack, Ramsey, Alexis, Ox, Giroud.

COME ON THE ARSENAL.
