Arsenal did NOT forget to register Olivier Giroud

We all know there are a lot of idiots following our club. A lot of people who believe everything they read in the press. A lot of people who make ludicrous statements to suit an agenda.

One of these idiots is proven supergrass, alleged phone hacker, sacked Daily Mirror Editor Piers Morgan.

Now old Piers has a lot of followers on twitter. He thinks he is some type of super fan who is a proper representation of real Arsenal fans. He isn’t.

Most of his followers are foreigners who do not have a clue about his previous actions, and do not realise that it is his type of upper-middle class tosser that is killing our game.

Anyway, I digress. Today the plonker tweeted:

Giroud can’t play vs Dortmund this week because we forgot to register him. If anything sums up Arsenal’s clueless management…

This tweet has then developed into a massive story, with many people, wrongly, thinking Piers Morgan is right, that Arsenal ‘forgot’ to register Olivier Giroud.

They did not.

When Giroud picked up his injury in August in the match against Everton, his expected date or return was January, at the earliest.

Taking into account Arsenal autrocious record of players returning from injury on time, there was no expectation of Olivier Giroud to be seen before Santa Claus.

So when it came to Arsenal submitting their squad for the Champions League at the beginning of September, Giroud was deliberately left out. Why register a guy who was not going to be fit enough to play?

And imagine the uproar in September, had Wenger announced he was going to include Giroud in the squad, despite him being out until January.

“Comical Wenger” we would have cried.

Olivier Giroud bucked the trend. He has come back 6 weeks early.

If you are following in Piers’ foot steps and using Giroud returning early and Arsenal not registering him as a reason to moan, then you can go site with Piers in idiots corner.

Giroud returning should be a positive. His goal on Saturday was class. Let’s grab hold of some positivity and get this season moving forward.

Arsenal did not forget to register Giroud. He was not supposed to return to fitness as quick.

10 Reasons why we will beat And Leicester + My starting 11

1)  A bit of pressure is off the squad now we are in the Champs League  group stages.

2) Jack had his best game so far this season mid week, Ramsey is back but the big question is can they play together ?

3) Chesney, Can’t really fault him so far this season, been steady and hes controlling the box well. With age comes experience.

4) Debuchy was very unlucky to get 2 yellows mid week, I’d say that not only has he been a seamless replacement for Sagna but also an improvement. His crossing is defiantly better, a shame we don’t get the same width down the left.

5) Santi, like Jack, also looked good mid-week and he will confuse and baffle And Leicester today.

6) Podolski is back and traveled with the squad, even if he don’t play he will be head cheer leader.

7) We haven’t lost there in the League since 1994, but out last game there was the final game in the Invincible Season.

8)  And Leicester had a great home record last season in the Championship, but they will have to have a blinder to keep us out today.

9) With Giroud out for sometime and the club dragging its heels to buy a replacement for RVP still its likely Alexis (who works hes F’ing socks off) will start again down the middle.

10) Wenger Knows, this is the kind of game that can be frustrating at times and the home crowd who haven’t had many big boys visit in the last 10 years will be well up for it, but this is the kind of away game that sorts out the Prem winners to those in 4th place.

My Starting 11 – Chesney, Deb, Kos, BFG, Monreal, Flamini, Jack, Ramsey, Ozil, Santi, Alexis.

COME ON THE ARSENAL !!

Is Olivier Giroud the problem?

This season, a lot of our failures have been laid at the feet of Olivier Giroud. Now I am not his biggest fan. I have openly expressed my views in previous blogs. His lack of individual brilliance. His play acting. His moaning. His shagging. His inability to out jump Danny Rose. He is a frustrating player at times. But is some of the criticism aimed at him too much?

Olivier Giroud is our current top scorer, with 19 goals in all competitions. A fairly modest return. Our so you would think. Below is a table of every player who has scored over 10 goals in a single season for Arsenal since 2006:Goalscorers

Now Olivier Giroud currently sits 7th on the list. In Arsenal’s remaining 9 (potential 10) remaining games, if Giroud were to score another 3 goals, it would mean that only twice has another player gone on to score more goals in a single season then him – Van Persie in 11/12 and Adebayor in 07/08. So is Giroud, or is perceived lack of goal scoring ability, the problem?

The answer is clearly no.

The problem lies in those around him. The following is how many players in said seasons have scored 10 or more goals:

2006-07 – 5
2007-08 – 3
2008-09 – 3
2009-10 – 4
2010-11 – 5
2011-12 – 2
2012-13 – 4
2013-14 – 2

To have just 2 players so far score 10 or more goals is quite frankly poor. Especially when one of those players is Aaron Ramsey, who has not bee seen since Santa Clause kidnapped him. The only previous season since 2006 that we had just 2 goal scorers with over 10 goals was also the year when Robin Van Persie hit 37. The team was built around him.

The problem is not that Giroud does not score enough, it is that those around him are not scoring enough. With Walcott injured, Cazorla goal shy, Podolski inconsistent, Sanogo non-existent, the goal scoring duty has fallen to Giroud, and he simply is not a 37 goal a season man.

The blame for this obviously falls to Arsene Wenger. He, like the rest of us, should have seen that Giroud needed help, and his failure to buy another striker is becoming our downfall.

When I look at Nicklas Bendtner, he appears on the list twice, scoring 12 and 15 goals. How important could they have been this season? Whilst I am not saying he should have played more, what happened to him to make him fall so much? With Wenger not fancying him, who did Wenger plan would score Bendtner’s 10+ goals?

What has happened to Podolski? What has happened to Cazorla? Both scored 10+ goals last year. This year they have become shadow’s of the players. We are struggling for goals. We have scored 29 less than Liverpool. 24 less than Manchester City. Goals win games, and we, as a team, are not scoring enough.

Olivier Giroud, however, is doing his part. He is being let down by those around him. Let down by his manager.

So before the Manchester City game, and during it, do not criticse Olivier Giroud. Have a go at his team mates who are not scoring enough. Have a go at Arsene Wenger who failed to buy another striker. Leave Giroud alone. He is not the problem.
