LONDON – OUR CITY – UP THE ARSENAL

Lads, time to stand up and be counted.

It has been a below average league campaign for The Arsenal so far this season. We are currently set for a 6th place finish, which will be our lowest in 23 years – the infamous 1994/95 season when George graham was sacked for taking cash in brown envelopes, and Nayim scored from the half way line.

Interestingly, up until last season, 1994/95 was the last time that lot up the road finished above us.

The players on the pitch owe us as fans. We have suffered this season. We are the Arsenal Suffragette’s.

We can still get some positives out of the season – a League Cup final to look forward to at the end of the month. A potential fruitful Europa League campaign still ongoing – but it starts tomorrow. It starts with Spurs today.

Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka, you guys are the engine room of Arsenal. Do not stop running, stop Dele Alli and Cristian Erickson. Give the cheats a good kicking. Shkdoran Mustafi, Laurent Koscielny, remember Harry Kane is a myth. He has no pace, he has no skill. Stick an elbow in his already droopy jaw. Remind him that he is a boyhood Arsenal fan.

Mesut Ozil, weave your magic. You now have Henrik Mkyhitaryan next to you, a player on a similar wavelength. Who you will pass the ball too and get it back. Not some dog f****r who will take 9 touches of the ball before losing it.

And Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, which ever one of you starts. Between you, Arsenal have spent £100m on fire power. It is games like tomorrow you were signed for. Show your nasty side. Be clinical.

Remember, Tottenham are rubbish.

One average season does not make up for decades of failure.

No league title in 57 years
No FA Cup in 27 years

They are a team of failures. A club of failures. With a new stadium which is not going to be ready in time, we costs spiralling out of control. Remind them of this. Do not give an inch.

As for the fans, we also need to stand up, make ourselves heard. Do not cower away, do not allow yourselves to be intimidated.

Spurs fans are notorious bullies. They will attack women and children. As soon as a man sticks it on them, they cower behind the police. They are cowards.

Win tomorrow and we then enter the key run of back to back games in the Europa League before another visit to Wembley for another final.

The momentum we gain from tomorrow will see us through February. Will see us to silverware. Will set us up for the rest of the season.

Our first 6 months of the season has been atrocious. This is the business end of the season. It starts now.

Stay safe, but stand up and be counted.

Up The Arsenal.

PoCHEATtino defends diving

When an individual dives, he is a cheat. He has taken a choice to attempt to gain an advantage through cheating.

When during a game, 3 team mates all dive, then you have to bring into question the philosophy of the club and integrity of the coaching staff.

Against Liverpool, Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Erik Lamela all simulated contact, or exaggerated contact in an attempt to win penalties. They cheated.

The press have been mysteriously quiet on the matter. Obviously not wanting to criticise the Golden English players Alli and Kane. In the same way they have ignored Wayne Rooney’s diving for 2 decades.

Last night Mauricio Pochettino, or as I will now refer to him, PoCHEATtino came out to defend diving.

In Pocheattino’s mind, those that criticise diving are “killing the game”. What an odd stance to take. That it is not the cheating that is destroying the game, but those who criticise the cheats. He calls diving a “minimal issue”.

His quotes some up his attitude to cheating:

“Football is about trying to trick your opponent – yes or no? Tactics – what does ‘tactic’ mean? When you do tactics, it is to try to trick the opponent. You play on the right, but you finish on the left. Twenty years ago, thirty years ago, we all congratulated a player when he tricks the referee like this. That is the football that I was in love with when I was a child.”

So he loves football that involves players attempting to trick a referee. He sees diving to win a penalty from the referee as a skill, and has previously admitted to practising it in training back in Argentina.

It is odd that Pocheattino is not being hammered by the press for supporting cheats. But that would not suit the current love-in that the press have with everything Tottenham.

In-fact, rather than come out and attack the cheats, they have come out in support of them. This is the Chief Sports writer for the Independent:

https://twitter.com/jonathanliew/status/961015627736604674

So you see no difference between a dive and a step over? Really? Is that true?

One is an attempt to beat an opponent with skill, the other is an attempt to gain an advantage through cheating…

whether it be Robert Pires, Ashley Young, or Dele Alli, players dive. But when the culture of the club encourages diving, there is a problem. and when the coach comes out and talks about diving as if it is a skill that should be taught, learnt and used, there is a clear problem.

Pocheattino is a cheat. He promotes cheating. He is happy with his players cheating.

It could be worse, you could be a Spurs fan

Yesterday I wrote a blog about how I was struggling to find any positives with Arsenal at the minute. It was hard work and the only big positive I could find was at least we are not Spurs fans.

And it is true, it is a positive that I do not support Spurs.

Spurs might be “on the away up” and showing “progression”. They might have finished above Arsenal last season. But that was the first time in 22 years. 22 YEARS.

Arsenal are awful at the moment, but the fact that Arsenal are so poor, and Spurs so (allegedly, according to the media) brilliant, and only one of the clubs is winning trophies sums up the whole situation.

Whilst Arsenal fans are celebrating FA Cup wins, 3 in the last 4 years (soon to be 3 in 5), Spurs are reduced to celebrating made up success. Like “most Premier League goals in a calendar year” (Harry Kane) and “most Premier League MOTM awards” (Harry Kane) and “most Premier League goals for Tottenham” (Harry Kane) and most points over the last two seasons.

The reality is:

  • Spurs have not won the league for 57 years
  • Not won the FA Cup for 26 years
  • Won 1 trophy (League Cup) in the last 18 years
  • Won 2 trophies (2x League Cups) in the last 26 years
  • Not won a trophy in 9 years

Arsenal have been awful, but you look at the last 5 years, we have finished above Spurs 4 out of 5 times, and won 3 FA Cups (to Spurs 0 trophies).

On the right hand side on Sky Sports, they put up as part of their rolling news clubs recent successes. Arsenal’s is trophies. Spurs is Harry Kane.

Spurs may well make it 2 years in a row finishing above Arsenal. That will be two years in the last 23 years. If they finish trophyless again, that takes it to a decade without a trophy.

Their fans might be excited about moving to their new stadium, but lets see how excited they are when they realise it is a soulless bowl designed for the NFL that has cost £1bn to build – sending the club into a crippling debt much worse than Arsenal suffered in the mid 00’s.

The truth is, no matter how bad you might think things are for Arsenal, Spurs fans have been much longer suffering, and have had such little success to cling to over the last 30 years that they are having to make up success.

So Arsenal fans, it could be worse, you could be a Spurs fan.
