10 Reasons why we will beat Palace + starting 11

Well before I start..HAPPY NEW SEASON, let’s hope Wenger spends a bit more money on the defence and we could be in with a shout this season.

1) Pulis has left Palace, not an ideal start for any team, especially one that will have to punch above it’s weight to stay up this season. Pulis completely turned around Palace last season, they were everyone’s favorites to go down and he steered them upto 11th.

2) Koscielny look’s likely to be fit, it will be nice to have one fit CB on the pitch.

3) Chambers has looked ok in pre-season, CB is our only weak position today.

4)  Diaby maybe fit, but luckily so is everyone else bar the German’s and Theo so he shouldn’t get on the pitch .

5) Captain Arteta will get to try his new super Def Mid role where he doesn’t run about too much, breaks up play and just gives the ball to Jack and Aaron.

6) We beat Palace home and away last season 2-0.

7) We haven’t won any of our last 4 opening weekend games, Palace haven’t won any of the last 5.

8) Alexis will be the star attraction today, but Campbell, Ox and Sanogo will all be hoping to get on the pitch and make an impression today.

9) Giroud’s goal Vs City shows with a bit of competition for places amazing things can happen.

10) Wenger Knows, what a difference a year makes….

My starting 11 – Chesney, Deb, Chambers, Kos, Gibbs, Arteta, Jack, Ramsey, Alexis, Ox, Giroud.

COME ON THE ARSENAL.

10 Reasons why we will win the Community shield + Starting 11

1.. Sanchaz Sanchez Sanchez, possibly the biggest and most exciting transfer we have made since Bergkamp.

2.. Joel Campbell , I like him (he will be pleased to know that i’m sure)   he has some genuine pace and after waiting years to get a work permit he will give it his all to stay at ours.

3.. Diaby is injured. Earth is round. Man invents the wheel…

4.. Chambers looks like he has come to us to cover CB and RB and with the Germans still putting towels on sunbeds he will partner Koscielny in the middle of a new look defence with other new boy Debuchy at RB.

5.. We only have 6 Defenders listed at the club on arsenal.com, but who cares we have 10 midfielders and 9 forwards, ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK

6.. Manchester City have never won this trophy at Wembley.  (nicked from bbc sport)

7.. Vanishing spray will be used for the first time in an English game, another first involving our club.

8.. We have so many options in the middle of the pitch that not only will Man City not know who we will play but Wenger is possibly having sleepless night over the right combination too.

9.. Man City will be without  Fat Lampard, Snidey Sagna, Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta, Martin Demichelis, Fernandinho and skipper Vincent Kompany.

10.. Wenger knows this is really a glorified friendly and the result won’t make too much difference to our season, but we need to show we have learned some lessons from last seasons games against the bigger sides and put down some kind of marker.

My Starting 11 – Ches – Deb, Kos, Chambers, Gibbs – Flamini Ramsey Santi – Joel Ox Sanchez

Wengers £24 million signing

Well seems our beloved leader has landed himself a new 3 year deal, the only shock in this is the timing I firmly believe this was signed and sealed about 6 months ago. This new deal will take us to May 2017 with Mr Wenger and will mean he will last 20 years as manager of our great club.

“I want to stay and to continue to develop the team and the club. We are entering a very exciting period. We have a strong squad, financial stability and huge support around the world. We are all determined to bring more success to this club”

That comment by Mr Wenger on arsenal.com along with others by Sir Chips and Lord Kroenke of Denver was carefully scripted and was keen to highlight the achievements made by Mr Wenger, even if all but one of those were years ago,

Personally I think that Mr Wenger and the club have made a mistake in giving him another 3 years. Winning the oldest and greatest cup competition in the world would of been a fitting and graceful way to bow out with pride and dignity intact for all concerned. I love the FACUP and for Mr Wenger to win it 5 times now is an outstanding achievement, But due to people like Swissramble (on twitter) , the AST and by simply reading The Arsenal’s accounts lot’s more transfer money was available in the last 4 windows which if spent wisely could of lead us to even greater success.

The FACUP final weekend was a great party it reminded us what it was like to be winners again and that’s what a football club should be about, doing it’s best to win things. Most clubs spend every available penny they have in the pursuit of glory, some clubs even spend money they haven’t earned but not us. We have massively underspent for a number of years now whilst seeing membership and ticket price increase. We have a bank balance and profit margin that even banks could only dream of.

When A fresh faced relatively unknown outside of France and Japan manager arrived in 1997 he  took the English game by storm, he extended the careers of the famous back 5 that Mr Graham put together by using the latest innovations and tactics in the game. Mr Wenger is 64 years old now and will be 67 by time this contract is up, now Mr Wenger has always had his own theories on age and has a long history of either moving players on once they reached 30 or only giving them yearly contracts, he knows everyone but himself has a sell by date. This would of been the ideal time for a new fresh faced man with new fresh ideas to take us onto the next level.

Anyways that’s my 2 penny’s on the subject, yes I am very grateful for what Mr Wenger has done for the club and him staying on will make no difference to how I support the team on the day, but I just wish he would of gone out a winner.
