Spurs fans really are deluded mugs

So yesterday I wrote a blog about how Spurs are going to celebrate finishing above Arsenal like they had won a trophy. As expected, the deluge of comments coming in proves just how muggish their fans are.

Rather than respond to each comment individually, I thought it would be good to highlight their muggy comments to the world:

So Bitter already before the season is over and a true Gooner he is that….living in the past.

Me !….happy with what Poch has done for the team and the style we play and the progression, really dont give a sh*t about them up the road but clearly all you gooner fans worry about is finishing above us!

Living in the past? 2 FA Cups in the last 3 years. It is not exactly the distant past is it? Or should we not even go that far back. Tell you what, last day of the season, you are above us. Well done. But the day after, Monday 22nd May, it is then the past. The season is done. You can not mention it. Deal?

Glen Rowe

As spurs were in the title race last season and this one and arsenal look like they could finish 6th of course there is a shift in power, as for arsenal winning the cup, they have a chance the same as the other teams left but to be honest they look like the weakest team still there

Well done for winning the “In the title race but ultimately did not win it” trophy for the last two seasons. And being 7 points behind the leaders with 8 games to go, it isn’t really in the title race is it.

Some pathetic Arsenal fan created a day to celebrate ending above Tottenham. This was wonderfully the moment they ceased being a threat and became a complete laughing stock to every other club. Everyone now realised their fans had no ambition or expectations beyond ending above Tottenham. The morons celebrated like they had won the trophy they drop out of in the last 16 every year. Then when they think the day that ruined them as a serious club is not going to happen they turn the focus on Tottenham. Hilarious mate. We gave bigger fish to fry thankfully than obsessing about our neighbours. Advice – we are a tiny little club not worth worrying about. You are a massive club bigger than us in ever way. Hahahahaha

What bigger fish to fry? Are Spurs entering the World Cup? Maybe they can play Chicago fire in the Final? You are a massive club bigger than us in ever way – at least you said something right…

Happy Spurs Fan

What matters is now. Not the past, not the future…now. This is pathetically defensive and the season is not even over. Anyway, ‘power shifts’ and past trophy counts are for 12 year olds and Liverpool fans. Good luck for the rest of the season. COYS

Trophy counts are for 12 year olds? So trophies and winning them are ultimately pointless? Guess you would say that when you have won nothing of note for a quarter of a century. It we are not in football with the ultimate aim of winning trophies, what is the point of it?

Judas

Except Woolwich knows that it IS a shift in power.

What do you mean by Woolwich?

We have already seen the difference between the 2 sets of fans Gooners fight with each other while spurs fans stay united. Anyway Spurs finishing above Le arse is not important trying to win the league is. Get over your obsession and get used to looking up at us.

I actually agree with you. Arsenal fans have been embarrassing recently. Spurs are united – for now – but after two decades of booing your side off at half time the attitude had to change.

And yes, it is about winning the league, that is why I am baffled that Spurs fans are going to celebrate not winning the league for the 56th season in a row like they have won the league.

londonessexhottubs

We have overtaken you. You are getting scared!

It is a bit like when Lewis Hamilton get’s overtaken by a Skoda. It is just a temporary blip.

Alan

Hahaha – I seem to recall Arsenal fans celebrating as if they won the champions league when you finished above us last year. The very fact that you are ‘resigned to the fact’ that we will finish above you implies that you are devestated about it. Which shows how pathetic you are.

We’re hoping to win the title and the fa cup. That’s our ambition this year. You’re just hoping to finish 4th.

I hope to one day get a soppy tit wank from Kelly Brook. We can all dream of winning the double. That reminds me, Arsenal have won more league and cup doubles than Spurs have league titles. You are 7 points behind the leaders. Keep dreaming. Your eyes have seen the glory. In your dreams.

Dwayne officer

The fact you’re writing this article shows how low you lot in Islington have fallen.

We couldn’t give a hoot if we finish above Arsenal, fact is we are now a more desirable club and have a trajectory way above where you guys are heading.

Please focus on those around you like Everton and west brom.

Everton – a more successful club than Spurs.

Whether above or below the truth is our biggest gate is 1,000 apprx bigger than yours in the old 1st Div, We filled Wembley four times with ticket sales in excess of 80,000 at roughly four times the price your small club charged for the game against Fiorentina, in which Batistuta made Adams and Seamen look like amateurs, we have been in Europe less times than you but have won more. your overwhelming sense of self importance stems from the fact that you have been more successful than us during the Prem. Lge years, this of course is undeniable, more successful yes bigger in your tiny dreams little man.

Oh and in all those years of being behind you we have never had fans fighting each other in and outside the ground with exposure in the media proving what small time charlies you really are. Back to the nomad franchise club you are, where will you go next.

So embarrassed you couldn’t leave your name? Well done for winning the “biggest Gate” trophy. And you are boasting about selling tickets at “4 times the price”. Well done for being happy at having MORE EXPENSIVE TICKETS. Arsenal rented Wembley 20 years ago.

And you are boasting about that Fiorentina game. Remind me again, how did Spurs do playing at Wembley this season?

Guess when your side has won nothing relevant for over a quarter of a century, you have to cling to something.

You talk as if Arsenal have only been more successful in the Premier League era. Arsenal had 10 league titles before the Premier League era. Spurs have 2.

Arsenal won 3 league titles between 1961 and 1992, Spurs have two in their history. No matter which way you look it at, Spurs have been dominated by Arsenal for a century.

Success cannot be denied, most of it came as we were trying to pull ourselves out of debt caused by board decisions.

The biggest gate was to demonstrate the bigger support we have over your club, and yet you resort to what once was and not what now is.

I will not go into the firsts and records held by my club but suffice to say they are great achievements, but I don’t live in the past but look to the future.

We have always been the better supported club, throughout the 60’s and 80’s and many years previous to that your stupid shadow was cast in the opposite direction.

So Spurs were in debt in the 70s, 80s, 90s & 00s? Every decade Arsenal won a league title in since Spurs last in 1960. What a badly run club…And back in debt you go with your £800m stadium

Yid army123

Just face it we are on the and have been for a couple of years now while arseinhole have been on a steady decline fact bie bie face the truth lmfao

We have been on decline, yet won 2 FA Cups in 3 years. You are on the way up, but have not won anything of note in a quarter of a century…

Watco66

How many of them were before even black n white u fucking retard. Get a life you cunt or better still join your make believe fat mate on the pull. Melt

Bit hilarious, mocking Arsenal for winning titles in black and white when we have won 5 league titles since your last one.

Spurs plan open top bus parade

I am now resigned to the fact that Tottenham Hotspur, that lot up the road, our little brother, are going to finish above Arsenal this season.

It will be a momentous occasion for them. To Spurs fans, finishing above Arsenal is like winning a trophy. They once bought a DVD out celebrating a 4-4 draw with Arsenal. Finishing above London’s Greatest club for the first time in 22 years will lead to mass celebrations throughout Middlesex and Hertfordshire.

It would not surprise me if Spurs hold an open top bus parade through the streets of Edmonton, and then a reception with the mayor at Tottenham Town Hall. Such is the mindset of the small club from Enfield, they will talk about this season for years to come as one of the greatest in their history, even if they end up trophyless.

The hilarious scenario could be that Arsenal win the FA Cup, Spurs end up finishing above Arsenal, but end up trophyless again. It will be their 9th year in a row without a trophy.
It would show the difference between the two clubs and fans, that Spurs would see a season finishing above Arsenal, but with no trophy, as a success, whilst Arsenal could win the FA Cup, see the season as a failure, and still call for the managers head.

Finishing above Arsenal ultimately means nothing if you do not win the league. Or a cup. Will it make up for 22 years of dominance (which in reality is actually a century of dominance)? No. Will it make up for 13 league titles against 2? No.

Spurs still have not won the league since 1961. No FA Cup since 1991. The fact that they have not finished above Arsenal since 1995 is a remarkable achievement. I would be surprised if throughout the top leagues in the world, there have been two city rivals where league dominance has been so one sided over nearly a quarter of a decade when both sides have spent that entire time in the top flight.

So Spurs, enjoy your day in May. Enjoy your parade in the sunshine. But ultimately, like Arsenal were mocked for celebrating a 4th place trophy, finishing above Arsenal is not a real trophy.
Real trophies are something to celebrate. Trophies like the 6 league titles Arsenal have won since Spurs last title. The 7 FA Cups since Spurs last.

Spurs finishing above Arsenal once in 22 years does not show a shift in power.

Graham and Wenger…Why is there even a debate?

One side of the Wenger debate I always find distasteful is when people question his achievements, his success,. His trophy haul at Arsenal. It is distasteful because it ends up with both sides of the narrative slagging off two Arsenal legends. Arsene Wenger and George Graham.

It usually starts when, during a Twitter argument (why do grown men spend so many hours arguing on Twitter?) someone brings up Arsene Wenger’s trophy haul as a signed of how he has been a success. 3 league titles, 1 unbeaten season, 5 FA Cups, 2 doubles. It is undeniable that he has won more than some clubs.

In response, the pettiness begins. But Arsenal were successful before Wenger is usually reeled out. And it is a true statement, Arsenal were successful before Wenger. In fact, the man before Wenger (I tend to ignore the Bruce Rioch era) won 2 league titles, 1 FA Cup, a League Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup.

It usually then leads to someone posting up something like this:

https://twitter.com/BlackScarfAFC/status/849377177145679873

An image attempting to discredit the success of Arsene Wenger, rather than celebrating it. How agenda driven can you get that you refuse to celebrate success?

And this is where the nastiness begins. Rather than accept that in the last 30 years, agree that Arsenal have had two great managers, fans from both sides of the narrative end up in a point scoring contest. Trying to put their man (Wenger or Graham) on a pedestal, whilst attempting to knock down the other.

Surely it would be easier to accept that both men did wonderful things for Arsenal Football Club, and both men had their faults and made mistakes whilst at the club?

Both Graham and Wenger are up their as the most important men in Arsenal history. Alongside the likes of Danskin & Humble, Norris and Chapman, and not forgetting Don Howe. Men who gave their lives for the club. Are key components in make Arsenal the great club they are now.

George Graham took us out of the dark ages. Repairing the damage from the Terry Neil era. He led us to our first trophy for 8 years. Our first league title in 18 years. He made Arsenal a force to be reckoned with again. He broke up the Scouse Monopoly on league titles.

To misquote Donald Trump, George Graham Made Arsenal Great Again. He laid the foundations which the current House of Arsenal was built on.

Likewise Arsene Wenger revolutionised the club. He took us into the 21st century.

We he arrived we were a club in crisis. Scandal hit, a drinking culture, players refusing to play for management. He not only got the side to be a success again, he changed the entire culture of the club.

Read Tony Adams’ book. Read Ray Parlour’s book. Both praise Arsene Wenger for saving their lives. Saving their careers. And he did it with a lot of players at Arsenal at the time. The drinking culture went out the window. In came fitness regimes. New training ideas. Scouting systems. Where Wenger lead, other clubs followed.

Like Graham, Wenger made Arsenal a force, breaking up the Manchester United dominance of the Premier League – albeit not often enough perhaps.

Both Graham and Wenger transformed the club. Can we not accept that?

When it came to players, both worked some magic, both had their downfalls.

Graham bought through the likes of Adams, Rocastle, Davis, Merson. Signed the likes of Wright and Limpar. Built the famous back 4.

Likewise Wenger signed Henry, Vieira, Petit, Gilberto, Pires, Overmars. Bought through the likes of Fabregas. Graham was very much a proud Brit in everything he did. Wenger focused more on Europe. Both signed and developed some legendary players. Built some legendary teams.

Both also mistreated some players. A lot of people talk about how Arsene Wenger is badly mistreating Jack Wilshire at the moment. How he has backed lesser talented players (the likes of Denilson and Diaby), whilst discarding a potential Arsenal legend.

But then remember what George Graham did with David Rocastle. He left him crying in a car when he told him he was being shipped off to Leeds. An Arsenal boy, the classiest English midfielder of his generation, shipped out of Arsenal at just 25 years old, to be replaced by John Jensen.

Arsene Wenger can be criticised for ignoring the dirty side of the game. Not having enough work horses in the team. On the other hand, Graham had a thing against flair players. The treatment of Rocastle, the discarding of Anders Limpar. Both managers had their faults.

Whenever someone brings up the unbeaten season under Wenger, rather than all smile about it, there is always someone who responds with “But George Graham’s 1991 side was better. It scored more, conceded less, lost just once”.

Here’s a novel idea. Rather than arguing over this, why not be grateful we have had both 1991 and 2004? Two league title winning seasons. The same as Spurs. Then we have another 11 to be proud of as well.

Both Wenger and Graham have bought some fantastic memories to Arsenal fans. Moments that have defined their generation of followers.

Anfield 89, the 1994 European Triumph, the first club to win the domestic cup double in 1993. All brilliant stuff.

Likewise in 1998, when Adams left foot half volleyed that ball into the back of the net against Everton. What a moment. 2 doubles under Wenger. THAT unbeaten season. More FA Cups and Wembley days out than most clubs have in their history.

Why do some people seem unable to embrace ALL success?

Both managers all had their embarrassing cup defeats. Wenger v Bradford will always be stained on the memory of Arsenal fans. Graham FA Cup 3rd round defeat to Wrexham in 1992 on his record. Both tiny stains on highly successful careers.

For the defeat against Luton in the 1988 League Cup Final. We have the defeat against Birmingham in 2011. But the success massively outweighs the failures for both men.

On the darkest sides, both men have bought the club to its knees. Wenger has stayed on too long. His disregard for the fans is distasteful. His arrogance, his refusal to accept anything is wrong, targeting top 4 over trophies.

Meanwhile Graham had that scandal over brown envelopes for transfers which ultimately lost him his job – although I would imagine every manager of the time was getting brown envelopes. Graham just the one who got caught.

And of course, George Graham managed Spurs.

One thing not in doubt is that both men love Arsenal Football Club.

Wenger has spoken numerous times that when he retires, he will be a regular at the stadium as a fan. Graham is often at the stadium (although not invited enough by a bitter board) and clearly has Arsenal in his heart.

I recently put some Arsenal wall plates away. I have moved into a new house and just do not have a place for them. You know the ones. Advertised in the back of a magazine. £29.99 a plate. Supposedly for ‘collectors’. One is called The Managers. This is what inspired this article. Why do we have to pick and choose between Graham, Champan and Wenger? We do some feel the need to praise one whilst discrediting others?

You do not often hear people comparing Henry and Wright. Bergkamp and Brady. They might argue who was better, but people do not argue who was worse. But they do with Graham and Wenger.

Why not put your agenda’s, your narratives, to one side and thank god we had Wenger and Graham. We could have so easily ended up with Venables and Gross…

Arsene Wenger and George Graham. Both are Arsenal Legends.
