Breaking News: Cesc does not love Arsenal

Cesc Fabregas left Arsenal 2 and a half years ago. The way some fans go on about him, you would still think he was at the club. The love for him amongst some Arsenal fan’s is embarrassing. Cesc Fabregas seems to of gained a fanboy following with some Arsenal fans. These fan’s need to realise Cesc Fabregas DOES NOT love Arsenal.

In the first of a two part interview with journalist Sid Lowe of The Guardian, reported in every other news outlet this morning, the line that seems to have got most fans wet is:

“Arsenal is in my heart and always will be.”

From this single line, fanboy’s and the press are getting excited that one day, their prodigal son, Cesc Fabregas, will return to Arsenal, conviently ignoring the next line of the interview where he says:

“I don’t know if I’ll have the opportunity to go back and play there one day.”

It is time for Arsenal fans to get over Cesc Fabregas. He was just another player for the club. One of hundreds. In an era when players only cared about themselves and not who they player. for . Cesc Fabregas is not an Arsenal legend. He would get nowhere near an Arsenal All Time XI.

What seems to have happened since Cesc Fabregas left Arsenal is his history at the club has been re-written in the way that a Hollywood screenwriter only seems to be able too. Many of his fan boys seem to forget the following 3 facts:

  1. In his last season at the club, Fabregas made it very clear that he wanted to leave and had an ego about him. This led to many fall outs with team mates whom he felt he was ‘above’. He had the go and arrogance of Henry with out the success.
  2. On the last day of the season, rather than be at the game against Fulham, Cesc Fabregas was at the Spanish Grand Prix. In contrast, Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, also injured at the time, sat in the stands with the away fans for Liverpool’s visit to Aston Villa.
  3. Cesc Fabregas told the club he would not play for them again in the summer of 2011. He refused to train. He refused to go on tour. He basically went on strike.

This is a player who has said today that Arsenal will always be in his heart. So much so that he would rather watch cars go round a track then watch his beloved Arsenal. He could have watched the game and then sat on the side of the M25 for 2 hours.

Cesc Fabregas clearly does not love Arsenal. He is a professional footballer. He is the girlfriend who left her steady boyfriend for a rougher, riskier, less stable better one in the hope it works out. And like that girlfriend, she occasionally calls her old boyfriend, invites him on a night out, or pops round, just to keep him on the hook, just to keep him interested, incase it go’s wrong with the new one. The old boyfriend, like The Arsenal, are the fall back plan.

Arsenal fans, Cesc Fabregas fanboys, it is time to get over him. Move on. Cesc is not an Arsenal legend. He does not have Arsenal in his heart. Stop following him on twitter. Stop getting wet everytime he says something about Arsenal. He is not better than Robin Van Persie.

Spend your energy idolising Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey or Jack Wilshere. Leave Cesc Fabregas where he belongs, as part of Arsenal’s past. He is not part of Arsenal’s future.

Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey, The Defence, Wojciech Szczesny and More…

Mesut Ozil

Sign Mesut Ozil for £42.5million, Arsenal score the goal of the season with beautiful one touch play, Ozil no where to be seen, but then scores a header. Have we signed a freakier Peter Crouch? Of course, I jest. I wonder if Arsene Wenger tells the rest of his side to just feed the monkey? He has shown what spending big on a world class player does to the side, the fans, and more. You have to feel that he gives the likes of Wilshere and Ramsey confidence by being there. After all, if he has joined Arsenal to play with them, how good must they be? Hopefully we will now see one big money world class player signing a summer and build on Ozil.

Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey

After a rough start to the season for Wilshere, he seems to be getting back to full fitness and is looking stronger and quicker for it. A top draw goal, he is silencing his critics who seem to forget he is just 21 and has just spent the best part of 2 seasons injured. As for Aaron Ramsey, he is a reminder to Jack what hard work gets you. Another great goal by The General. The argument about him being the best central midfielder in league is over. He is. The debate now is where does he rank in world football?

The Defence

Whilst Arsenal are getting plaudits from around the world for the scintillating attacking play against Norwich, we once again failed to keep a clean sheet. Arsenal have kept 1 clean sheet in the league this season. It is a worry that we are conceding a goal a game.

Wojciech Szczesny

The Big Pole has grown this season. The way he comes out for corners, dominating the box, is majestic to watch. At 6ft 5in, a huge reach and a brilliant leap, he comfortable gets over 10ft in the air at corners. He not only gets the ball, he catch’s it rather than punches it. He seems to of regained his concentration, probably helped by the signing of Viviano to keep him on his toes. At just 23, he will continue to improve. A new goalkeeper in January will not be on anyone’s list.

Top of the League

2 points clear after 8 games, it feels good chanting “We are top the league”. We might not yet of played anyone of note, and the comparisons to ‘the same games last year’ will continue, but the fact is, we are top. In the calendar year of 2013, we have got more points than any other side. A home match against Liverpool, then an away trip to Manchester United, with 2 games against Borussia Dortmund, a League Cup tie against Chelsea and a tricky trip to Crystal Palace will show us just how good our side is. Come out of the run still top of the league, having qualified for the next round of the Champions League, and in the fifth round of the League Cup would be the dream result. Keep up the positive energy!

Emirates Atmosphere

Success and atmosphere go hand in hand. It is easier to cheer and sing when your team are winning. And it is no surprise that we now have the best atmosphere at home since moving to the new ground in the best start to a season at our new ground. The ground is establishing it’s identity. With The East Stand and North Bank taking ownership of the old “We are the North Bank Highbury” song. where as before, it was fragmented with people singing about where they sat at the Home of Football, they are now signing about where they sit in the new stadium. With 60,000 people, we can be the 12th man. Sing up for The Arsenal.

England a glimpse of Arsenal’s future?

Tonight at 8pm, England play at home against Montenegro. Whilst International football rarely gets me excited, I am actually looking forward to this game – although I am likely to miss the first half as I am taking advantage of the International break by getting away for the weekend – and the reason for this is we will potentially get a glimpse of Arsenal’s future.

Now I am not talking about the amount of Arsenal in and around the England side. Wilshere, Walcott, Gibbs & Oxlade-Chamberlain could all be on the plane to Brazil (if England make it). I am actually talking about the future make up of Arsenal’s central midfield.

“But only Wilshere will play and he will be next to Gerrard, who is Scouse” I hear you all say. And that is true. It might sound odd that by watching Gerrard & Wilshere together is a glimpse of Arsenal’s midfield of the next 10 years.

Wilshere has often played most of his career in the number 10 role. Further up in the pitch involved around the edge of the area. But I have long believed that his future would be deeper. His technique and long and short passing is exceptional. But so is his aggression, and by playing him too far forward, you lose the aggression. Add in Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere’s future at Arsenal is deeper.

For England, he will play deeper alongside Gerrard with Wayne Rooney ahead, in behind Daniel Sturridge. It will be interesting to see how he gets on and if he can still dominate and influence the game. I am sure he can. Now where does Gerrard fit in?

Well Aaron Ramsey shares a lot of similar traits to Gerrard. Stamina, running, able to drive forward, but a solid individual. I have long felt Gerrard would have been a better player had he performed deeper and dictate play, however his own ego dictated where he played. He was, for a time, bigger then any Liverpool manager, and basically played where he want.

I can see Ramsey playing in a similar role to that of Gerrard in the near future for Arsenal. A little bit deeper, a little bit more disciplined. He would provide a midfield two alongside Jack Wilshere, where their intelligence would mean that they could both defend and attack at will. The would be able to build a relationship and become the best central midfield partnership in world football. And with Mesut Ozil ahead, well the world would be our oyster.

For once, watching an England game might not be worthless.
