Predictable, Sanchez & Ozil, Fans, Wenger Out Protest

Predictable, Predictable, Predictable

Is anyone surprised anymore?

What sums everything up is that when we went 1-0 down, there was no anger, there was no frustration, there was just a shrug of the shoulders. At 2-0 down fans steamed down to the bar to get a pint. When the third went in fans simply got up and left. No mass protest, no booing.

The only ones showing anger, and it was more a faux anger, are those who went to get on camera. Want to be famous. Everyone else just could not be bothered anymore.

A long journey to a top side, with no trains and a 4 hour drive home, people decided to get on the road early. What is the point in getting angry anymore when it happens all the time?

Since beating Manchester City away 2-0 on the 18th January 2015, our results against Man U, Spurs, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea reads:

1111

Without bashing a dead horse, as we are all bored of it and negativity breeds negativity, it is just getting all a bit too predictable.

This predictability is the main reason it is time for Arsene Wenger to leave. The belief in the fans is gone, the belief in the players too. We go 1-0 down away from home in a big game, you just know we are not going to get back into it. Might as well leave the game and head home.

With a new manager will come a new belief. It will breath life back into the fans. Going 1-0 down will not mean the predictability of defeat. At least in the minds of the fans. We can get back to cheering the side on again, rather than shrugging those shoulders and wondering if getting home at midnight from Liverpool is really worth it.

Alex Sanchez and Mesut Ozil

One was “dropped” the other was “ill”. Plenty of rumours flying around about the reasons neither started on Saturday. To be honest, I do not care about the rumours, my opinion is simple.

They both have contract offers sitting on the table to be signed, they either sign it or they can f*** off.

Back in the day, the likes of Ian Wright, Tony Adams and Ray Parlour signed contracts without even reading it. We were The Arsenal.

We have lost better players than Sanchez and Ozil in the past and they can both be replaced. If they do not want to play for The Arsenal, just leave.

Fans

I used to be proud of our away support. The best in the land, I would say. But now they are no more than an embarrassment.

This has nothing to do with the infighting. Just a few years ago, when we went 1-0 down, a roar would go up. ARSENAL, ARSENAL, ARSENAL. Now it is silent as it is so predictable. But you can not blame the fans for this apathy.

The issue with the fan base is the fans actions. It is just embarrassing. This go’s beyond Lad Bible fans and Arsenal Fan TV.

As I was entering the stadium on Saturday, a lad was nearly in tears outside the stadium. He had been kicked out for throwing beer. He was crying, begging the police officer to let him back in. The officer was refusing. I laughed. Good. A lesson learnt. Do not act like a cock.

It happens every away game, you have 20 idiots throwing beer in the air whilst another 50 surround them videoing it. I would kick them all out.

Then in the stand things got worse.

Behind me was an Arsenal fan who seemed to be more of a Sadio Mane fan than an Arsenal fan. Everytime Mane got the ball, he screamed in excitement SADIOOOOO as if he was having an orgasm. “That’s why he got 4 star skills on FIFA” “He should get an inform, that card will be sick” “Monreal is an 81, he should be a 75”. An Arsenal fan more interested in FIFA than Arsenal. Willing on Mane so that he gets an inform card. The state of our fanbase.

As we went 3-1 down, fans begun to leave in disgust, and no one could really blame them. Except for the 3 lads standing infront of us. All on their phones taking selfies of them looking sad. They must have taken 3 or 4 pictures, all trying to pull the saddest face possible. More interested in letting the world know they were at football, and sad, rather than actually being at the football.

I love going football. I love the drink up with my mates. But a lot of our cringeworthy fanbase is ruining it. Making me wonder why I spend so much money going up and down the country to be surrounded by a bunch of knobs.

Wenger Out Protest

There is a Wenger Out protest before Bayern Munich on Tuesday. Plenty of details about it on Twitter. If you sit there all day on social media moaning about Arsenal and Arsene Wenger, get off your lazy backsides and turn up to the protest.

If you moan all day every day and enter the stadium on Tuesday quietly without joining the protest, it shows you are nothing but hot air. Someone who moans on social media for attention.

Turn up or shut up.

FIVE key questions Arsene Wenger MUST answer

gettyimages-632918062

1) Why were the team “mentally not ready for the challenges”? – We were playing Watford, a side we had played 4 times in the last 2 seasons, winning 3. How did we not know the challenges they face. Who is responsible for the mental preparation of the team?

2) Why so many changes after Southampton? – We won 5-0, albeit against a very weak Southampton side, why did only one player who started that game start tonight? I appreciate Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott are just returning from injury, but Bellerin, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lucas Perez deserved a start.

3) Why is Jack Wilshere on loan? – Yes, he has had to go on loan to prove his fitness, which he has done so play 19 games for Bournemouth. That is more games than both Aaron Ramsey & Santi Cazorla. Why did we not insist on a recall clause like Chelsea did with Nathan Ake?

4) What has Lucas Perez done wrong? – Everytime Lucas Perez has played this season, he has looked a threat. He has scored 7 goals in 449 minutes. Why is he not getting more game time?

5) How can you justify signing a new contract? – Everyone knows there is a two year deal currently sitting on your desk. How can you justify signing this? You have always said that everything you do is in the best interests if Arsenal Football Club, even if it has sacrificed some of your reputation. Well now is the time to make the ultimate sacrifice. It is not in the best interests of Arsenal Football Club to have Arsene Wenger as manager next year. Do the right thing and step aside.

How do The Invincibles and Class of 2017 compare?

Yesterday Arsene Wenger cam out and claimed his current crop of forwards was the best options he has had in his 2 decades at the club, surpassing the invicibles:

“Certainly numbers-wise and quality-wise together [they are the best],” Wenger said ahead of today’s clash with struggling Watford.

“We had never so many players who could perform and score goals – certainly never.

“Dennis and Thierry had the quality but we did not have a large number. We had Sylvain Wiltord and Robert Pires as well so it was not bad.”

Many have used this of further proof that Arsene Wenger is a deluded old man who has gone senile. It is further quotes to prove that he now looks at the current set up through rose tinted glasses.

Arsenal’s current forward options are: Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil & Lucas Perez. How can these compare to Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Freddie Ljungberg, Robert Pires, Kanu and Sylvain Wiltord. The invincibles.

Well the statistics do make for interesting reading:

Invincibles v Class of 2017

goals-in-order

So the Invincibles scored a goal every 2.96 games. Whilst the Class of 2017 are a goal every 3.01 games. Almost nothing in it. We are talking about a 5 minute difference. But of course, it disproves Arsene Wenger’s point. The Invincibles were superior goal scorers, but only just. And probably not by as much as people think.

For me there are main differences between the two groups of players is top end quality. The Invincibles had Thierry Henry.

Henry is by far and away the most clinical player out of the 12 players and the primary reason that the Invincibles scored more than the Class of 2017.

A minor reason is Dennis Bergkamp against Mesut Ozil. Bergkamp was much more of a striker than Mesut Ozil. Scored more goals.

Henry better than Giroud, Bergkamp better than Ozil. When you combine all 12 players into a single long list, it makes equally as interesting reading.

Long List

long-list

This list further proves that Henry was superior to every other player. Our greatest goal scorer of all time. But the next two on the list are interesting. Both from the Class of 2017. This shows that whilst the Invincibles were heavily reliant on goals from Henry, the Class of 2017 has two goal scoring options.

Lucas Perez has to kind of be disregarded as he has played so few games to make a true judgement.

You then have the next 5. Pires, Bergkamp, Wiltord, Welbeck & Walcott. Very similar games to goal ratio.

So the Invincibles had the best goal scorer, but the Class of 2017 had the better options.

Player v Player

side-by-sideA last comparison is just seeing players per their position.

Again, this highlights the importance of Henry and Bergkamp. Henry is vastly superior to Giroud. Bergkamp better than Ozil. This is not exactly ground breaking news.

On the left hand side, Sanchez out scores Pires, which again is not exactly surprising. Sanchez is better than Pires.

The right hand side of the midfield might surprise you. Walcott is more dangerous than Ljungberg.

Wiltord and Welbeck are both hardworking strikers who also cover the wide positions. Wiltord had played a lot more than Welbeck, but their record is identical.

Lastly we have Perez v Kanu. Not similar in style, but they are the lost ones left. Kanu on his day was a game changer, but was extremely inconsistent. A scorer of great goals, rather than a great goal scorer.

I think it is wrong to compare the Invincibles to the Class of 2017. The Invincibles won league titles, and went unbeaten. Add in a lot of FA Cups. Whilst the current crop have just those 2 FA Cups to show for their efforts. But the comparison does make interesting reading, and the difference is not as much as you would think.

The difference is Bergkamp and Henry.

Note: I know I spelt Wiltord’s name wrong in the pretty pictures
