Alexis Sanchez

Is anyone else getting a little bored of it all the Alexis Sanchez stuff now?

At the weekend, he flew to France with his girlfriend, his agent and his lawyer. Then social media exploded that he was there to speak with PSG. A few hours later, someone mentioned he was there to get his visa. Or maybe his girlfriends visa. Or maybe his girlfriend had a modelling shoot?

All the ITK’s who bore the hell out of me seemed to know exactly why he was there, what flight he was on, and what colour underwear he was wearing. It is all a little boring lads. Give it up. You do not know what is happening. Stop pretending you do.

Arsenal players had been given the weekend off. Granit Xhaka posted a picture of himself on a balcony over looking a body of water. It certainly was not the River Lea.

As for Sanchez. I am at the point where I really do not care if he stays of go’s. We have lost better players. We will sign better players. It is Arsenal FC, not Alexis FC.

I am as equally bored by the Thomas Lemar saga.

As predicted, the ITK’s claiming it was a “done deal” have been exposed as liars. They have basically made up that they knew what was going on to build a 14,000 twitter following, before launching a blog. Well done lads. Great way to lose any credibility before you have even started.

I will never understand why a chap living in a bedsit pretends to know what is going on at Arsenal. It is dull, and it just draws transfers out further.

The bigger joke is the people who follow these muppets. Asking questions about players or contract situation.

THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING.

Like with Alexis Sanchez, I am now bored with Thomas Lemar. If the deal is deal, let’s move on to the next one.

Chelsea

You have to laugh at Chelsea. The club and the fans. Yes they have won 2 league titles in 3 years – something which we should all be jealous of, but the attitude of their nouveau riche fan base, the majority of which have only followed the club for a little over a decade, is hilarious.

At the final whistle, chants of “spend some f**king money” went up. So entitled a fan base that they are demanding Roman Abramovich, a man who has spent the good part of £1bn of his own money on players, spend some more.

And then we have questions aimed at Antonio Conte about his “lack” of transfer activity.

This season, Chelsea have already spent £130m. They have signed a new striker, a new midfielder and a new centre back. They have spent the cash.

It is not like the season Arsenal bought Petr Cech and no outfield players. They have spent, and spent big.

They are the type of spoilt fans that complain when their mum brings home Ben and Jerry’s ice cream but they wanted Haagen Daz. A joke of a fan base.

Although maybe it is this “always demand more” mentality that leads to 2 titles in 3 years.

Spurs

The other side of the coin is Spurs. They have yet to spend a penny, yet there have been no articles of them being in crisis.

In fact it is completely the opposite.

Their fans and the media are almost accepting that Spurs are not going to sign anyone. “We are doing it the right way” they keep claiming.

If the right way means no league titles in 56 years, then that is laughable.

Top 4 now a trophy?

In the last week, I have seen fans of both Spurs and Liverpool boast about their sides success in the last 12 months.

A Liverpool fan, when saying that his club should sign Alexis Sanchez, defended his reasoning that The Chilean would want to join them by calling the club “upwardly mobile”.

If 1 League Cup in 11 years is what thy now define as success and being upwardly mobile, then have a weird barometer of success.

Of course, what he meant was that they had qualified for the Champions League for the second time in 8 seasons.

Arsenal won the FA Cup last season. Liverpool finished 4th, 1 point ahead of the Gunners.

You don’t win a trophy for finishing 4th. You do if you win the FA Cup.

We have also had similar comments from Spurs fans on the blog. Boasting about how successful they were last season. Saying that they are a bigger draw then Arsenal. Laughing about their rivals having Thursday night football. Spurs are in the Champions League. Arsenal are not.

But Arsenal won a trophy last season. Spurs nothing. So who really should be laughing?

Suddenly to Liverpool and Spurs fans, top 4 is more important than a trophy.

If Coutinho is worth £133m, how much is Mesut Ozil?

So Liverpool have “slapped a £133m price tag on Brazilian midfielder Coutinho.”

It forces to me to ask two questions:

  1. What are they smoking up their at Anfield?
  2. How much would Mesut Ozil be worth?

For me, Coutinho is one of the most overrated players in the game. Watch him properly rather than just the highlights.

He has 10 shots a game from the edge of the area. The majority go over. Once every 10 games, he catches one right and it flies into the top corner. Fair play. But that is 1 in 100 shots. Is it really that good?

He is a poor mans Frank Lampard. Shoots at every opportunity, misses more often than not. But he is praised by the fan boys who ignore the games he go’s missing (every game he does not score), always shoots one the edge of the area – even if there is a better placed player available, and is frankly average.

Coutinho is basically the Brazilian Andria Townsend.

He is not even good enough to clean Mesut Ozil’s boots.

Arsenal need to make Bundesliga star their Number 1 target

There is nobody better available is a common line put out by many Arsenal fans to justify our poor dealings in the transfer market.

Occasionally it is justifiable, but in the majority of occasions, there is someone else better available.

The line is also often used when we miss out on a player. Again, sometimes you can be genuinely frustrated that we missed out on an available player that is better than what we have, other times it is just idiots trying to create a stick to beat Arsene Wenger with.

One such occasion I read recently is some plonked tweet DANI ALVES IS AVAILABLE. As if it to make the point that:

  1. He is available and;
  2. He is better than what we have

This is a perfect example of fans chatting rubbish.

Dani Alves is only available because Manchester City are offering big money in terms of wages for a 34 year old, and the chance to one more work with Pep Guardiola. Alves has mutually terminated his contract with Juventus. If it was not for the Manchester City interest, Alves would not be available and would still be contract to Juventus.

Secondly, whilst Alves has had a stellar career, he is now 34. Is he really a better option than Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Hector Bellerin – men 10 years his junior? Alves would be a short term option, a very short term option.

So if we are going to bring up names of players who are available, and are better than what we have, let’s be sensible with it. Let’s not just name names for RTs and blog or vlog hits.

One player who is most certainly available, and is clearly better than what we have is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. And I am baffled as to why it seems we are not in the race for him.

Of course, we could be moving up on sly like a Love Island alpha male muscling in on another man’s girl without the bloke she is currently coupled up with knowing. But at the minute, it just seems we are not interested. And it baffles me as to why not.

Here is a striker who is amongst the best in the world. A world where there are not too many top, top strikers. At 28 year old, he is at the peak of his powers. In 4 years at Borussia Dortmund he has scored 120 goals in 189 games.

Last year alone he scored 40 goals in 46 games for the German outfit.

He is big, he is strong, he is quick, and he knows where the back of the net is. And according to reports, he is available for as low as €70 million – in the current market, for a player of his ability, that is relatively cheap.

At the minute, it seems Liverpool are leading the race for him, with the offer of working alongside former manager Jurgen Klopp a key factor. But then you look at who else is in the race. Manchester United and Chelsea. But both clubs seem to have him as second choice if they are unable to sign Alvaro Morata or Romelu Lukaku respectively.

So you have two clubs interested in signing him as a second choice, and one club looking to signing him who can not really offer him the chance of winning trophies. Meanwhile Arsenal sit their with 3 FA Cups in 4 years and Danny Welbeck upront.

Aubameyang would come straight into the first team, and would surely be the type of stellar signing that makes Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil think I am staying here.

And imagine Aubameyang himself getting told Arsenal want to sign you and play you infront of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. It is the type of thing dreams are made of. He would get 30 league goals next seasons without even trying.

Arsenal do not have Champions League football, which might be a down point, but I am becoming a believer that players do not actually care about the Champions League – unless they win it – and just feign an interest in clubs needing to be in the Champions League to eek out an extra 10%.

I can imagine how the conversation went with Manhcester United and Henrikh Mkhitaryan went last summer.

Man U: Henrikh, we want to sign you
HM: OK, but Arsenal want to sign me, and they have Champions League football
Man U: How much is their contract offer?
HM: £120k a week
Man U: We will pay you £140k a week
HM: Deal

Not having Champions League football is not an issue. If will not affect Arsenal financially a great deal, it will just mean we have to pay a little more for Aubameyang’s services.

With Dortmund saying a deal must be done before their pre-season training starts on July 26th, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a player who Arsenal should not just be targeting, but should be going all out to sign.
