My first arsenal experience was in 1978 I was four years old arsenal were playing everton and my first memory was bein on my dad’s shoulders walking down avenell road seeing a sea of heads and the smell of cigars all ways stood out for me ! We won the game 3 1 Alan Sunderland with a brace and Liam Brady- scored thee other after that I didn’t miss a home game for at least ten years then my dad became a steward so I was there most games up to the early 90s see some fantastic nights at Highbury love arsenal like a religion get over there when I can now . Now its my turn to take my son whose four and his first games against Norwich in a couple of weeks cant wait for him to experience thee arsenal . Can still name the team that nite too jennings devine o`leary young rice brady sunderland talbot stapleton price rix .

I remember that game Lee, but for the wrong reasons. My Dad was parking the car in Monsell Rd just off Blackstock when it stalled and then wouldn’t start. Just stuck with half the motor in the sticking out into the middle if the road. We had to wait for my uncle to sort the car and ended up missing the game. Heard the roars as the goals went it. Torture

I was 10 years old,Arsenal were in the cup final and our tv was broken ,Dad took me to Hyde Park to kick a ball, was no consolation. We beat Liverpool 2/1and the Evening Standard had a colour edition that afternoon. The next year I was on school trip when we lost to Leeds. The magic of the cup had to wait ’till we lost to Ipswich and the that wonderfull goal by Alan Sunderland and then the heartbreak the following year of Brookings only header of his life.
Then a few barren years but elbow room on the North Bank untill we won the League cup.
By then I had a ticket in the West stand and the greatest year 1989.
My last game at Highbury was 6/0 v Coventry athough we had won the league the week before and then beat Man u I watched with a tear in my eye as I emigrated soon after.
My early years in Australia were spent litstening to the radio in the wee small hours untill satelite tv arrived and now my children ahake their heads at my excitment at something that is happening half a world away.
Never mind my new Grandson is going to be a gunner!
